Please don’t have “measles parties.” Even for kids who fully recover, measles is a miserable experience. And a substantial number will have complications. Just get vaccinated instead.

There were no vaccines for Measles, Mumps, Rubella when I was a kid. Parents were esp concerned for daughters to get Rubella, because of high risks of foetal abnormalities if you get it when pregnant. So yes, my mom did that. BUT SHE WOULD HAVE PREFERRED A VACCINE and I got my polio, TB, tetanus

Measles is said to wipe out the immunities you already have. Do you know how long that lasts? Wondering b/c a few years later I got mumps for 3 weeks and my sister got it for 3 months. We got great care from my mom RN with public health degree.

Look, I’m 72. I got these diseases before I was 10. Do you think I remember? #Vaccinate

I was asking for the data on how long the immunities are wiped out when a person gets measles. In general, as this is clinically proven.

Yes I Remember because these were not mild diseases, as stated by some anti vaxers. With measles, one has to be in a dark room. Yes, a kid Remembers that. I was in 8th grade when I got mumps for three weeks. My sister missed 3 months of 4th grade. The 2 of us have had life long health complications

I’m not looking forward to the return of H flu and having to manage epiglottis/critical airways in infants. That’s gonna kill kids left and right. Not all those intubations will be successful and it will be the parents who killed their own kid.

Hold on now. Consider who will be having these parties: future Darwin Award winners.

I wonder if the long-term effect of this would be some backlash against Greene and her ilk

Tell you what, why don't the GOP Freedom Caucus have a measles party first. And since the party only works if they catch it, none of them leave the room until they get measles. That'll show us!

There’s also the thing where a portion of kids who seem to have recovered will die like 10 years later. But yeah, my grandma had measles around age 9 (c. 1930) and although she had no complications and made a full recover, she was still talking about how miserable it was at age 102.
