Here you go, Saerd. If you search 'Yolo County Mexican-Free-Tailed Bats', you will see lots of photos and videos. We're only a few miles from where it all happens about 100 nights between June and September. yolobasin.org/battalkandto... www.youtube.com/watch?v=REBy...
Amazing! Thanks Marsha. I have a thing for bats but the closest I’ve ever come was a 300 year old cottage in Cornwall that came with a warning not to disturb the bats in the porch ceiling. Sadly, they never appeared.
When I lived in England, our ancient churchyard could be counted on for dusk bat sightings - but nothing like the quarter-million we get here in Davis, California every summer. Are bats rare in your part of the world, Saerd?
Cda has 9 native species but most all of them are threatened. I'm in Alberta where the Little Brown Bat is endangered due to white-nose syndrome. Actually makes my heart hurt...
I'm so sorry to hear this, Saerd. My grandfather was born and raised in Alberta. Were we able to relocate to your beautiful country, even with the bay shortage, we would do so.
