If you genuinely, for one fraction of a moment, thought that Isak was going to be sent to train with the U21s for any length of time instead of selling him (or thought that that was a good idea for that matter) you are completely and utterly off your rocker and should seek professional support #NUFC

I just can't care. I do hope he breaks a leg his first game with them.

This is how I’ve felt every time I’ve seen a nonsense post like that. I also don’t support the “selling Isak will set us back” idea either. Whether it’s end of this window or the next, this money will now be invested into the squad properly without the same PSR concerns we had last summer.

Even beyond PSR you’d genuinely think this is the first time people have experienced a good player leaving a team. Christ I feel blessed to have experienced the Carroll, Cabaye, Wijnaldum and Sissoko debacles to give some perspective on this.

Exactly. It hurts but it hurts much more when it happens and the money goes straight into Debenhams

I’m sure that Thauvin and Siem De Jong money went STRAIGHT to Game. I can’t prove it but nobody will convince me otherwise 😂

Siem was a great signing, on my Football Manager save from those days. Cracking player. It’s unfortunate that in real life he wasn’t good at moving about without sustaining serious injuries.

Imagine my surprise when we signed Facundo Ferreyra and he didn’t bang 50 goals in his debut season like he did for me on FM. I’ve never felt so personally insulted in my life.

I’m looking forward to the next release, whenever that is. I’ve missed that game consuming an unhealthy amount of my spare time.

I thought that Nick. As I often state, I’m unusually wrong and currently refusing therapy. It made sense in terms of sending the right message to other potential ‘wantaways’ but in practice it would likely have been an expensive mistake.

Eh it sends a message, I’m just not convinced that’s the club we want to be. Yes we need to make it clear that we’re not a stepping stone, but you do that internally with culture and prestige. It can’t be helped if while we’re in the process of establishing that a player decides to snake us

True. It sounds cynical but most players just want the best career they can achieve, there are many options (currently) better than us. Letting them rot, while justified imho, could also impact our recruitment of decent talent moving forwards. We’re heading in the right direction, for once!

That’s it, end of the day we’re at a point where Isak leaving is annoying on the principle of how it has gone down rather than because it cripples us. Equally with how much of a pigs ear the club has made of large parts of this window I suspect a lot of lessons will have been learned!

I thought we might show a bit of backbone like Spurs did with Modric, LFC with Suarez, Chelsea with Costa, Man Utd with Rooney and even Forest with MGW. You don't sell your best player in a restricted market. And it was never a binary decision between selling and the reserves. That's disingenuous.

Our situation, as with all of those, is different. Realistically I think what Forest has done with MGW is going to come back to bite them, and the atmosphere over there looks toxic. Rooney didn’t go to City because SAF strong armed him into staying. Costa fell out with Chelsea because they decided…

… they were going to sell him and sent him to train with the reserves. Even the Suarez scenario was a joke because of the £40m+£1 bit. I’m as unhappy about how the Isak deal has transpired as anyone. But a lot of our fans seem to want Isak publicly tarred and feathered to “send a message”.

Reg the Veg @reggietheveggie.bsky.social

I agree about the 'tarred and feathered' bit, but reintegration was always a possibility (whether the player was willing to admit it or not) with a bit of management. #NUFC did not have to be victims, but now we have fans talking about not having to pay the loyalty bonus as if it's a small win...

... It feels like the aftermath of the LFC match, where everyone is trying to put a brave face on a damaging loss - that led to a feckless draw at Leeds. We could have handled this whole Isak situation much better, and lost because we didn't. We need to accept that in order to learn from it.

Oh I absolutely agree reintegration was on the table. I’ve maintained for weeks that if we didn’t sell him he’d be playing again ASAP. This is more directed towards the “let him rot” side of the fan base who seem to have taken it rather personally

Don’t know if I’d take it that far, personally I’d much prefer he do what the last big striker we sold to Liverpool did - absolutely nothing for several years before going to West Ham ❤️
