We are already short of housing in urban areas. There are going to be shanty towns in the suburbs.
That's why we need the YIMBY movement! Also, the post that inspired the rural hospital debate was about hospitals in rural Michigan. Cities in the rust belt, like Detroit, would actually benefit from population growth.
Detroit is not representative & the people that voted for this also destroyed programs that would have facilitated the construction of more housing. It will be years before we can build enough housing for the people who voted to make it harder.
