I know a white girl who always checked “other” because she thought “Caucasian” was (and I quote her) “some kind of Asian” ethnicity. She was well into her twenties and out of college by the time this came up and she learned. And yes this really happened.

Haha! I *did* laugh really hard when she told me. All those years just silently seeing it, moving on, never thinking to ask anyone…. Can I ask how old your son was?
13, applying to private high school. He also thought “throng” was “thong” on the analogies part of the private high school test and thought that was inappropriate. Very successful engineer now.
