I cannot agree more. It is also spreading to how we consume online entertainment by crafted fake personas of influencers. Critical thinking is dying in a vat of click baite soup

This post reminds me of what I read about a few years ago. What experience today with internet and social media compared to the book print. Arguably the door to a wealth of information at the time but what followed was the dark age and condemning women as witches to burn them on the stakes.
