Two big differences: 1) You make your own algorithm. 2) Blocking is effective. For those of us who don't need to be immersed in the zeitgeist it keeps things manageable.

Another difference, you can use your own domain name to be "verified", but it's not quite perfect yet because if you use your domain it frees up your existing handle for someone else to use. This is something they are working on a fix for.

You are limited to 300 characters. This is probably not an issue for seasoned newspaper-vatos like you, but for those of us who have built their reputation as writers around florid and purple prose, it proves to be quite a challenge.

For starters, there is no "The Algorithm" because BSky aint Twitter. It's up to each user how to experience all the variations here, but many can't stand the freedom.
