That was a three-sting camping trip: one from stinging nettles and two stings from one mean wasp. As a result, a cool forest ranger taught us all about the healing balm inside yellow jewelweed!

Girl Scouts taught me in the last millennium that wherever jeweled grows, look for poison ivy. Also, can be used to wash off poison ivy if done quickly. I have no idea if this is still taught or just an old false folklore. 🌱

That’s cool! The park ranger told us something similar, so I would say there’s some fact to that folklore. 💯

They never teach the cold beer trick though. For wasp and bee stings, hold a cold can of beer against it for a few minutes. It's the one cold compress everybody seems to have handy when camping. You can drink the beer after if you want.

The wasp stings still hurt. That wasp was a jerk! I was just walking around minding my own business.

The wasp stings woke me up last night with their itchiness. Dipshit wasp's still bugging me almost a full day later.

Conveniently, jewelweed often appears near stinging nettle -they both like the same soil type and conditions! I can spot jewelweed easier so I take it as a warning 😆
