The US flag has been co-opted by a fascist movement. The best indication that someone is a fascist is a US flag prominently displayed on a shirt, car, flag pole, social media bio etc.

Disagree - many of us on the left refuse to cede the flag to the RWNJs.
The intended goal of language, including flags, is to induce a feeling in others. If you use a word, or flag, that has a different connotation with your audience then your intended use is moot. It’s how your audience interprets your words, symbols etc. I see a US flag I keep a wide berth.
There are so many ridiculous logical errors in your reply I don't even know where to start. Your assumptions are far from universal and you seem committed to unwarranted prejudice. But stay steeped in your reactionary, myopic ignorance, I guess! 🇺🇸
Okay!
Nah. Lifelong Democrat here. We fly the flag at our house proudly. Don't allow the right wing to co-opt the flag and patriotism. It belongs to all of us whether they like it or not.
I’ve learned that if someone has the 🇺🇸 in their bio, 90% chance they will be spouting right-wing ignorance that I have no desire to engage with
this is a thread about britain which has entirely different historical/social norms about flag flying, i think it's important for americans to have the same conversation but perhaps elsewhere
I see no indication from OP that this convo is about Britain, but I’ll take your word for it.
note that his account handle/url ends with .uk
Fair enough, but it's definitely referencing the current "fly the flag" campaign in the UK which has dubious motivations by at least some of the protagonists.
I say UK, I of course mean England!
However it's interesting to compare different countries' experiences. For example, Scandinavian countries tend to restrict flag flying to particular days, in Switzerland they're everywhere.
Indeed. When I first became active in politics in the 90s, Democrats were proudly cynical about patriotism and the flag. Then, the GOP essentially claimed it for themselves. That, and faith. Huge error on the part of Democrats. But, at least where I live, we Democrats proudly fly the flag again.
It was originally posted by a Brit.
Too late and as a lifelong Democrat you should know that the flag flying outside your house makes people think you’re a racist queerphobic republican, in case you’re wondering why people give you weird looks around the neighborhood.
Please don't project your personal viewpoint on others. You're entitled to your assumptions, but don't kid yourself that you represent others.
Every leftist knows Democrats can be fascists too If someone tells you that you have a red flag, the right response is not to go "that's unpossible"
Tilly, of course, has her personal banner raised the moment she returns home.
Doesn’t she have a coat of arms? That’s - of course - above and beyond the banner of the counties she owns.
No indeed, I RAISE IT WHEN I RIDE OUT
