There's a short novel from the 1950s from H. Beam Piper and John J. McGuire, variously called A PLANET FOR TEXANS and SIX-GUN PLANET, that operates on this principle. They disagree with you, but it's amusing in spots anyway. Not subtle, but amusing.

Was also done on an episode of “Sliders”
I don't share your optimism, the Republican congressional softball game got shot up pretty seriously and there were no steps taken to limit gun access in any way.
It's not my optimism, you know. Talk to the person whose optimism it is.
Is all your optimism vicarious?
More like nonexistent. But I do know how to use BlueSky.
Add Robert Sheckley to that list. The Status Civilization comes to mind in this context.
Wow, H Beam Piper, now that's an author I haven't read for a while.
If you have to read one, pick SPACE VIKING. It shows exactly how Vladimir Putin conquered the United States. LORD KALVAN OF OTHERWHEN (Ace Books title--sigh) is also quite good. Piper, in despair because he was broke, killed himself at not thinking he'd ever get paid just after he finished it.
He has a selection on Librivox, I'll check some out, thanks for the recommendations. librivox.org/author/1560?...
There are many sequels to LORD KALVAN, some by John F. Carr and the late Roland Green, some by Carr alone. The ones by Carr and Green are okay, the ones by just Carr not really to my taste.
The country would improve if everyone in Texas relocated to another planet...
Yay! I live for mentions of H. Beam Piper. His books aren’t talked about enough anymore.
There are others. Edgar Pangborn, "Cordwainer Smith," even Theodore Sturgeon these days...
I admit I haven’t read those, but now they will be on my list. Thank you!
Well, if Republican politicians were...
Sadly, this would only be true if it was Republicans being killed, at least under the current configuration.
And of course Harrison's Deathworld...
I suspect that billionaires would be a more productive target.
