I, don't like this framing tbh. Pictured here is a flag retirement, something right-wingers love as its basically the only way to burn a flag that they think is okay, since its usually reserved for tattered flags. What should be ardendtly defended here is flag as negative political speech.

It highlights that this isn't about what is done to the flag but rather the symbolism behind it and thus expressive conduct by the people doing it. One context is held up as ok and the other they're trying to criminalize. It shows that this is about speech.

Fair point, I hear where you're coming from. I guess my perspective upon first glance appeared that it was playing into the exact same social posturing Trump is doing here. As in to me this *looks* like its trying to say "we don't like the bad flag burning either, we too only like the good one"

Really I'm gonna assume I'm reading into your intent wrong, since it is rather hard to with a character limit. Plus, really that statement was confirmation enough, I likely just interpreted this differently than you were attempting to go for.
