I used to wear a pink golds gym tank top in high school and when kids tried to make fun of me I would reply I’m sorry you’re not secure enough in your own manhood and identity to wear something like this I feel sorry for you Great idea by that principle

What you fail to understand I’m a 53 year old man who really doesn’t care if you believe it or not

then why would you state it? obviously you do care whether you're believed, otherwise you wouldn't have said a thing not sure what your age has to do with anything

Nope just making a comment and trying to show we have to get away from the ridiculous thoughts about the way society should be for men or anybody else and not actually just being yourself. Sorry you can’t understand that.

I know what you're doing, I understand perfectly well that you're trying to reinforce something good which is getting away from "gender norms" that end up stopping people from living as they are the problem is you're doing it with a pretty obvious fiction you don't need to lie to make a good point

What evidence do you have that he isn’t telling the truth? What benefit accrues to you by challenging him?

I'm inferring based on the languaging used in the story not only do high schoolers typically not talk like that, it's ESPECIALLY the case in the late 80's when he would've been in high school it reads very much like an "and everyone clapped" type of story, so I'm calling it like I see it

the benefit of calling people out for lying? that should be self-evident, but if it's not I can elaborate it's good to make good points, but when you use falsehoods to do so, it weakens the veracity of your point and delegitimizes it in the eyes of those who you want to glean something good from it

But the problem is I didn’t lie No matter how many times you say it Just because you would have not done that at that age doesn’t mean others will not of haven’t Just saying Now have a nice day

it's entirely possible that somehow you were hyper-progressive in high school and had developed the kind of vernacular introduced in the 2000's around gender norms, but not likely that's why I'm suggesting what you said was untrue, because it smells very much like a lie

I grew up in a very diverse family, and lived through the bigotry of my godmother who happen to be a lesbian who I haven’t seen since I’ve been 12 because she got chased out of my hometown

I had actually taken the tank top from our river football teams girls, visiting locker room. Took it half time. Not proud of taking it now but back then it was just returning the favor from when they did it in our visiting locker room the year before

another telltale way to spot a falsehood is the teller mentioning something embarrassing or self-deprecating to make the lie more believable so to answer OP's question, this is more evidence

If you choose not to believe me it’s fine but I’m not the type of person to make things up but then again you do not know me so all you can do is make your own conclusions. Nothing I can do 36 years later to prove it so say what you will and have a good day

It’s actually not fiction. It actually happened and don’t really care if you believe me.
