Well the first step towards trust renewal must be a real separation of religion, state, military and law, second must be a redesign of the way governments are elected (voters registering, no more vote districts etc.) and third maximizing donations for campaigning.
Well, as a Canadian, I never really trusted them, tbh, because every deal, contract, trade or sale that we've had with them, no matter which party was in power, favoured the US over us. Every one.
If & when. Between sloth and greed, it's a fair bet that at least some early term recovery is possible.

That may be true, but we do understand that it will not be improving at all while he's alive and in power. We're hoping that when he finally dies, his government will collapse and we can at least START healing relationships.
I had this conversation with an American lately. He thinks that once the regime changes, everything will go back to normal. Doesn't understand just how deep our determination to not be fooled again runs. I wished him well.

I've said this as well. I'm an American, and we have shown the world we can not be trusted. As a whole, we are violent and self-serving, and choas follows us wherever we go. We have a lot of self reflection and growing to go through before we can be trusted again, even amongst ourselves.
The problem is #Democrats who bought into the idea of "When they go low, we go high" The Biden administration had multiple opportunities to end MAGA by expanding the SCOTUS and prosecuting the previous administration to the fullest extent of the law.
