It's looking like it. People of good character are leaving. The people left behind will be dogged with questions about their freedom to tell the truth. I tried finding another example of a newsroom losing talent at this rate and could not. It feels like an extreme outlier.

Me too - canceled both. I have lived in the DC area for nearly 50 years, and remember the halcyon days of Ben Bradlee at the Post. What they have become is a tragedy.

Surprised it took so long. It was on a long, slow slide downhill before Bezos bought it but I hung in there. I used to joke that I would be known as the last subscriber. After 34 years, I pulled the plug. I wish he'd sell it. And I wish Mackenzie Scott would buy it.

Just received a survey from WAPO asking my thoughts about resubscribing. I was able to choose editorial independence and political bias among reasons I cancelled. Couldn't finish without choosing a RE-SUBSCRIPTION plan. Whole thing appeared to be a way of getting me to sign up again. Pathetic.

I've known that since I cancelled my subscription in October 2024. I am glad to see the people whose work I liked are leaving with their reputations intact. We have reached a point where we can assume that all remaining staff members are collaborators.
