I lived in downtown DC for 10 years, dating back to 1999. I have worked and socialized in DC for over 25 years now. What Stephen Miller is describing always was possible. I don’t know what racist planet he lives on but it’s not one based in reality.

I was in DC two summers ago for a conference. Daytime, nighttime, I NEVER felt unsafe. When not bored out of my skull in a big room, I was on the National Mall, in museums, on the public transit system. I felt perfectly safe (and I wore my watch!). Such total bullshit.

He’s out of it. Even back in the 80s when I ran around the city with a bunch of other teens on a trip, we went everywhere on public transit and never felt unsafe. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

I've lived nearly 40 years in downtown DC, and I never was the victim of a crime, and in my younger days, it was late at night and in dodgy parts of town. But I am nervous now with thousands of armed soldiers on the streets, and Jeanine Pirro saying it's just fine for civilians to carry too.

I grew up in No VA and go back from time to time to visit. Honestly, the only time I've been afraid to go in to the district was in Jan 2021 for Biden's inauguration, solely because of the violence Trump is able to incite his supporters into committing to secure power for himself.
