In the Central Time Zone it's when local news comes on TV (and in very small towns it's when the daily fire station siren blows).

I never knew about 6:00 dinner until I met my future husband. His family sat down at 6 period. My family ate when dinner was ready, sometimes 5, sometimes 7, whenever we all managed to get together. Got rid of husband, back to eating when hungry.

My family always ate dinner late. I remember when I was a little kid saying we should eat at a normal dinner time like 6 o'clock. That was like 1991. By the way we tried it once and I hated it. lol

Yes, during the week 6pm. On Sundays a little earlier. Saturdays were a bit if a free for all. When did they think last century born (American) folk ate?

6pm is home cooked dinner time. For going out it's usually 8ish.

yeah, for me dinner tends to be anywhere between 5:30 and 8:30 just depending on how chaotic the day is, but I find it incredibly weird that someone is getting paid to be like "wow I never heard of 6 p.m. dinner before, these silly kids"

I tend to eat later, but I'm also a night owl. It's almost like people have different schedules and preferences? Gotta pad the paper out somehow, I suppose. Guess they couldn't find a past-their-prime actor or writer to complain about superheroes in time before publishing.

I will say that I usually shoot for a 12:30 lunch but sometimes work gets a little wild and I have to eat later than that. I've had the occasional 2:00 lunch but never on purpose, and any later than that and I'll probably just skip lunch altogether and wait til dinner

anyway, one of my more unpopular opinions is that generationology in general is stupid nonsense that's just another way to slap meaningless labels on people, but dullards absolutely love running wild with amazingly unfunny "this generation be like" crap

😊 People in cities/ people with money/ people in more educated areas tend to eat later. I now live in a smalltown agricultural area where people go out for dinner at 4:30 and some restaurants close at 7. It’s all relative.

In the high traffic SFBay area, the technicians in our company start at 5:00 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. to avoid lengthy congested commutes In the morning. Lunch comes around 10:00am, dinner is still at 5:00 or 6:00 with family while a light snack happens between that 10:00 a.m. lunch and dinner.
