just rewatched Thor: Love & Thunder and I remember being pretty down on it when I saw it at the theater but it's... fine. it's not great but it isn't as bad as I remembered. still think it was a total waste of Gorr the God Butcher but misusing villains is a problem with the MCU in general
All they had to do was show Gorr the God-Butcher actually BUTCHER A GOD. I would forgive everything else, if they would have showed it even JUST ONCE.
That happened to me with Ragnarok. I didn't like it when I first saw it, but after some time and a rewatch, it's definitely better than other things the MCU has forced out.
I enjoyed it in the theater. That's all that matters to me.

It took what was great about Ragnarok and said “double everything!”. Nothing was serious, everything was overdone for a joke. Screaming goats was a rainbow bridge too far.
The movie is so somber yet for all the things they seemingly didn't have time for, they used time to show a whole arc for an old meme. It comes across as though they felt the need to throw in something funny (obnoxious) but the tone of the film is so somber that it fails to provide levity.
Christian Bale was the best part of the movie hands down

Wasting Gorr & Cristian Bale like this was so grating. I also really hated how they rushed through the mighty thor storyline. I agree it's...ok. but I think I was more disappointed that this had **so** much potential 😭
I just see it as more Ragnarok. People can say Ragnarok was “different” but I chalk it up to folks just letting their hatred of Dark World overcome the tonal and pacing problems of Ragnarok at the time.
I don't know who Gorr the God Butcher is, but I'm a fan.
I never understood the hate really for Taiki but I thought this film was good aside from some humor being cringe. It was better imo too because they actually made it about Thor and Jane again.

hard agree. I think Taika heard the praise for the humor in Ragnarok and dialed it up a little too much for L&T and turned it into something kind of tonally disjointed that tries too hard to be funny at moments that don't call for it. plus they were just cramming too much in there with Jane and Gorr
