Make "Trilby: The Art of Theft 2", please... ? I just wanted to suddenly play it but it doesn't exist.
Trilby 2: The Theft of Art You can't play it because it was STOLEN FROM US!
here's one www.politico.com/news/2025/05...
Yes, do encourage people to read an article. Meanwhile you can’t even watch a video or read the post contents to understand the mischievousness/sarcasm.
ok
This hysteria over A.I. is honestly getting tiresome. If people want ethical uses for A.I. in the US at least, they need to vote for Democrats in every election, giving them a two-thirds majority in both chambers of Congress and keep voting. There are perfectly ethical ways to use A.I. even in/
/game development, including as cost cutting measures. Laws that prohibit replacing people with A.I. but developers can use it to create things like generative Quests, loot, and characters, laws that require A.I. voices used for profit to pay royalties to the voice actors who had their voices used/
/could give voices to CaCs, make more voiced Quests, and create more natural dialog options and interactions, both to make bigger games without causing explosions in costs. Anime games could even generate dubs without having to create unrealistic goals for the titles produced.
I did much the same thing, which much the same results. Nick Spalding via Chat GPT sounds like someone who's only vaguely aware of what it's like to be comprehensively embarrassed in public. And I'm stealing cock forest. You can't stop me.
yeah ngl my gut reaction is that I just don't want to watch the video when I see thumbs like that. :(
Hard nope. Your PS cloud function, roguelike levels are algorithms authored by people to produce one thing well. They are art themselves. Gen AI steals art to create derivative works. It's not just a wall texture, it's the thousands of photos of walls by unpaid photographers used in its training.
Honestly, the biggest issue as I see it is that the Invisible Pigeonholing Council has been working overtime to shove every automated tool (spellcheck, autocorrect, predictive text on your phone, etc) under the umbrella of 'AI' as the marketing wanketeers scream themselves hoarse about how >
genAI is Inevitable, as the C-suites continue to crowbar it into anything that the engineers bring them for approval, whether it would help or hinder (seriously, what the fuck good is an LLM going to do for my fridge, that a simple scan-and-catalogue thing wouldn't? And don't say make the >
shopping lists, if it's attached to the fridge, it can't see what's in the pantry, or the standalone freezer made in 2008. Consumer-facing genAI is A Bad Idea. Using ML tools to automate the most obnoxious bits of gamedev can speed things along nicely. WoW does it for their armors, now.
What is obnoxious about designing armor? If there’s a 3d modeler willing to do it as a job the only person that sees that as obnoxious is the dev who doesn’t want to pay for it.
How is making armor obnoxious? As someone working on an indie project, making the assets should be the fun part of making art. “Damn, I’m a painter, but i wish i could just skip the part where I have to sketch and paint.” Like, that’s where the magic happens.
I’m open to other opinions, but if you hate the creative aspect of art, I suspect that you just don’t like making art.
I doubt it's the making of armors as much as it is the process as a whole. I'd be surprised if WoW doesn't have a cosmetics option so that your look isn't affected by the armor stats, but making armors with stats to satisfy a fan base as big as WoW's has got to be a pain.
This is an overreaction. However the Butlerian Jihad can't come fast enough.
As a hobbyist, I am currently developing a prototype with AI "art" instead of the usual purple placeholder boxes. It makes it easy to get useful feedback from non-dev people. If this PoC can P the C, I plan to pay a designer to create real assets.
I do make heavy use of LLMs as a substitute for an editor in both my work and hobbies and *that* is a profession genuinely threatened by AI tools. Contrary to what modern luddites believe, designers, writers, or composers are not at risk.
Im starting to see that everyone is against AI stuff until its used to make something they agree with People really seem to like how South Park took it to Trump and Paramount but i have yet to see any one complain that it may have been done with AI It should be called out but not all needs a boycott
best take on gen-AI i've seen in a while! anyway this is bluesky so i should probably yell at you or something
