Good until they send you to the ER. Three times for me and mineβ¦
Iβve gone a few times4potassium infusions. Gastroparesis has me chronically undernourished. The vodka tonic was pain mngmnt. Doc didnt wanna put me on both pain meds & muscle relaxers, apparently tonic was better. My pulmonologist seriously told me the fastest (non ER) way2replace K was that meal.
Made sense. Arrythmias kill my people.
Thatβs terrible. Iβm sorry π’
Itβs all right. Thanks. I feel forewarned is forearmed! ππ
An ounce of prevention π
Yes, Sis! May come in handy! ππ
When my potassium gets too low, my transplant team prescribed a bag of chips, lol. Theyβve been off the menu for a long time since Iβve been on dialysis but since the transplant my potassium is running pretty low itβs weird eating chips again. Let me tell you.π€£
Did you have a heart transplant? My very good friend Nicole had a heart transplant Feb 2024.
No, I had kidney! So far so good congratulations to your friendπ
And her 23 year-old daughter just had a heart transplant. And now the granddaughter who is four has the same heart defect and will probably have to have one in her lifetime as well. My friend's father was subjected to Agent Orange in Vietnam.
Oh my goodness, thatβs horrible! All the best to your friends family I hope things go well for them, all of themπ
It changed something in his DNA, that's what they determined. And I guess it takes three generations for it to be drowned out. I'm sure she could explain it more scientifically than I can.
That sounds like what happened, how awful that those are the repercussions of that horrible chemical so much damaged on so many people!
Iβm very happy for everyone!!! π₯³π₯³π₯³
Thank you! Still walking on eggshells here but, very grateful. Also grateful that Iβm Canadian and have universal healthcare got out of this without being bankrupt.
Such an example!
It couldβve been a disaster, I lost my kidney function to septic shock from a UTI that turned into a kidney infection. I spent almost 6 months in the hospital then dialysis then finally a transplant work up and a transplant. I would definitely be drowning in bills!
Omg!!!
What a horrible nightmare for you! I am so sorry!
lol. I can see it. Itβs always weird going back to a previously eliminated food. If you can find body armor lyte, give that a try. My fav is Peach Mango. They replace potassium but have zero salt and low sugar (as opposed to Gatorade that has salt but no potassium).
I have a case of that going on too! Because now I have to drink tons and tons of water where I was before when I was on dialysis, I had heavy water restrictions. And of course sodium restrictions my sodium is often very low! Tnx!
