Some stuff here and there. Overall I was very disappointed, I didn't care for the tone, most of the characters, the mutation lore, let alone the ending.

Not seen 28 Years Later and unsure whether to rush to see it. I found 28 Weeks Later genuinely nasty. I love horror but there was a sadistic pleasure with violence in some scenes which I found unpleasant [the wife specifically] Stunning opening but the rest of the film left a bad taste in my mouth.

28YL was, imo, phenomenal. Grotesque and beautiful. Not seen 28WL, seems like fanfic to me.

Horror can split a crowd, for sure. Will seek it out on streaming.

I think you'll be surprised how "not a horror" it is.

Appreciated, Dan. I like most new horror: Hereditary, Midsommar, It Follows, The Night House, Smile [ending still depresses], Us, and even the mess of Malignant. Most are not gore horror but plenty of love for early Romero and Betamax 'video nasties'.

I also thought it was brilliant. Me and David are gonna have it out in a week or so at convention. Feel free to DM me smart points so I can crush him in debate.

I'm eager to listen how y'all reason away the bad chroma, the zombie baby, the quasi-bullet-time and the Chav Power Rangers, XD And look, I even liked Trance, but this shit was straight out of Zack Snyder's stoopid ideas google docs.

Chav power rangers! They were dressed as Jimmy Saville. Have some respect!

Jimmy Saville?! Mate, this film managed to get retroactively worse somehow

I'm starting to think you just don't get British culture... (That's the one bit I didn't like to be honest)

Ja, ja... a mí me encantó. Es caótica, apunta en mil direcciones distintas sin rematar de forma clara nada, es algo pretenciosilla (rollo Garland), pero tiene algo que me fascina a la vez que me repele. ¡Y el trailer de la segunda me ha gustado !

No sé, tío. Veo 28 dias como Alien, Semanas como Aliens... y esta es Prometheus. Muy difícil tomarse en serio nada que vaya ese camino, pero igual está bien. No he visto el remake de Candyman

None of that needs reasoned away, they're just choices you didn't like (and I did). Don't remember seeing any bad chroma.

28 weeks later is bad. An unlikeable film full of unlikeable people, which is the worst part as 28 days and even the tie in comics I read had such great characterisation.

I know David didn't care for it, but it was my favourite film of the year so far.

100%. 28 Weeks Later has a completely different vibe - and a completely different creative team behind it. 28 Years Later is a shockingly compassionate, tender film.

Critical Nostalgia @highway62.bsky.social

There's a very good horror/love/human story in 28WL that gets overshadowed by the need to be an end of the world film with zombies.

The kids are a bit underwritten given how important they are, but overall I feel there's lots of good stuff. Granted, though, the best are the first 20 minutes

I'd almost argue that the kids are more prop than character, just that they animate some of the plot as well which makes things hit not as hard as they could. (It's also been awhile since I saw the movie.)

I agree, it was disappointing and I found it stylistically inconsistent which was jarring. But there’s no way they’ll ever be able to match the original.
