Years was so great, and such a joy, I really just want them to leave it alone. Even knowing that it's "part of a trilogy" diminished it a bit.

yeah, agreed. It was good that by not having Cillian Murphy in it it was able to feel like a 'film' and not 'part of a franchise' for the most part. Having a follow-up with the sub-title 'The BONE TEMPLE' however makes it feel like you're watching part of a Property with perhaps a spinoff game
apparently it's 2025 and the concept of sequels and tie-ins is confusing and new to me
this quote from wikipedia about the director doesn't fill me with encouragment: "She called Alex Garland's script "amazing" and that her main change was asking "for more infected"" Bloomin' americans m8
Oh, brother
still written by Garland, who I find variable but I think 28 Years Later was probably his best, so hopefully the new one's from when he was 'in the zone' writing that
I like Nia DeCosts tbh. I thought her take on Candyman was decent.
Yeah, I thought it was alright. At least she seems thoughftul despite wanting more zombies so hopefully won't just make some dumbass generic zombie film survivalist's wet-dream snore
I'm pretty locked in to the Garland/Boyle vision of this, and I'm not really interested in other artists' takes on that world. Haven't seen Candyman, the "more infected please" bit doesn't fill me with confidence though.
I'd happily have 28 Years Later, the opening scene of 28 Weeks Later, and none of the first one other than maybe the clambering up a stairwell filled with shopping carts, and leave it at that
That’s fair enough. I’m a big fan of Alex Garland in general so I get it. I also like seeing different artists work on the same stuff though, that’s whats so good about the Alien movies imo.
I'm prepared to be wrong about this, I didn't have high hopes for 28YL at all and ended up loving that. So we'll see.
Yeah, this is going to suck. Oh well!
Yeah and I think Murphy is going to be in at least one of these. Blecch. Anyway, they've earned a bit of trust cos 28YL really was incredibly good.
