From the Department of Natural Resources: While the Long Lake wildfires battle continues, The Department of Natural Resources and local crews have been responding to other wildfires all around the province. In the past four days alone, DNR crews have been dispatched 17 times.

Respect the ban, honour the helpers, help those in need, think about others. It seems like the least one could do.

There have only been a few days in the past month when crews were not dispatched. In many cases, a helicopter was also sent to investigate and/or drop water. Some fires grew out of control before being suppressed.

That reflects how incredibly dry conditions are right now – and yesterday’s rain was not enough. Our crews are working hard and fast to prevent more large, out-of-control wildfires. And we need your help. Stay out of the woods. Respect the provincewide burn ban.
