Killing International Tourism to the USA is one of those things that’s going to do the most damage over the long term.

"A certain portion of Canadians will not visit the US right now on principle." Yeah, I wouldn't either! Plenty or worrying practical reasons not to, as well. bsky.app/profile/cnn....

*waves* I'm 1 of those Canadians. Live near the border & use to shop in Michigan, take in Tigers games & fly out of Detroit for vacations. Haven't been back since Nov. Vacationing in Mexico & Europe now & hit Toronto for BlueJays games. Don't think I'll ever go back. That's how angry I am.

I agree. We deserve it. I'm just sorry for all the things you used to enjoy that this has ruined for you.

I think the crisis is going to make itself most apparent next year when it becomes obvious that international soccer fans just aren’t coming to the 2026 World Cup and it’s going to provoke a cascading disaster in the tourism and hospitality industries

Anecdotal sample of one, but as an Olympics nut I was planning to go to LA 2028. No plans for that now.
