The effect you're describing is sometimes called "dummymandering", when you so strongly gerrymander your map that just a small shift in voter preferences can now swing previously safe districts. It would be awesome to see this anti-democratic acts bite them in the ass.

They can't mathematically. To gerrymander, they need to concentrate a lot of democratic votes together in few districts. The rest of the democratic votes get spread in safe Republican districts. They had it gerrymander to the fullest already. They can only put it back as it was, or risk it as it is.

The dumbasses used a 2024 voter model to come up with the gerrymandered districts and Trump will not be on the ballot obviously. They watered down their own districts in a swing year VERY VERY publicaly.
