oh my god I just found out straight people are using FTM to mean "full-time mom"

Shemalè
I think we need to let this one play out naturally.
What the actual fuck?!?
Imagine how I felt as a new parent when I first encountered FTMs discussing their new Pack-n-play
If you're coming home with me, I'm going to need you to have one not so floppy.
Don't let the compactness and efficiency fool you
It’s so convenient, I never need to worry how the evening is going to turn out, my baby is always content
I thought it was first time mom
WHAT
or sometimes "first time mom" it is a point of debate
my wife and i shared a lot of giggles about this when we first had our bb, the more "with it" spaces try to push folks to "FTP" for first-time parent but yeah its a wild sight to see the first time you come across it
😵😵😵😵😵
Wut?!?
Wait til you find out what straight people think ATM means
I was both for awhile there 😅
WHAT.
oh nooo
It feels like straight people live in a different world sometimes.
HUH
The existential horrors of three-letter acronyms.
“CBT” would like a word…
Some folk do use CBT as a form of CBT 😂
I don't know how chicken, bacon, tomato could ever be torture
Mumsnet users probably started the trend to “reclaim” the term
that’s one way to solve the mommy blues
We should purposefully misunderstand them. And be supportive. Ask them when their kid was born, and then introduce them to everyone they meet as “have you met Susan? She’s ftm. She transitioned into this lifestyle 4 years ago.”
"Hate to be noisy, but were you the birth father?"
I can see the posts now… “In my transition to FTM…”
Tell’em to stop it immediately! I do not approve!
Q: Is she FTM? A: No, not yet, but she's hoping to get there in the next year.
did you all know this already? I did not know this
My friend told me that they use it on pregnancy forums to mean "first-time mom" a lot and at first she found it very confusing.
oh yes right! there seems to be *debate* about which it should be used for
ok yes first-time mom is more common in fact! But NEVERTHELESS
yes my friend definitely got misled into thinking their new parent group had gender diversity lol
extremely old-fashioned gender diversity!
only because of a post that was making the rounds a couple months ago
yes, I moderate one trans-related subreddit and one parenting-related subreddit and I am constantly getting my wires crossed about it
www.reddit.com/r/NewParents...
I mean I guess we aren't really using that acronym any more so it is probably ok if they have a use for it but it is certainly surprising
Idk I still see it in use by young transmascs fairly often
LMAO
zero upvotes
also gotta love the top commenter using their phone a friend lifeline to get approval to call it stupid from their token trans acquaintance lmao
That abbreviation has been used in parenting forum since at least the late 90s when I started going into them.
way more niche but a lot of players in path of exile say t4t to mean “thanks for trade” and it throws me every time
Also, do not approve! Please gatekeep the cishets!
The cishets aren't okay.
