I’m pretty sure the proposals/suggestions were. Like definitely every American O’Irish with a passport didn’t get a vote. It might have been limited to natural citizens abroad or something but I can’t really remember

Yeah, I don’t disagree. I just know there are definitely people pushing for it and the only way they can make is palatable is to limit it in some way. Otherwise it’s chaos

There’s any number of variations on how you could extend the franchise to Irish citizens abroad. None is perfect (neither is the current system) but it’s just fuckin laziness to say “oh you can’t change it or else Conor McGregor will be elected by third generation Irish Americans”
