Though. I believe she did offer the tenants a rolling contract at the same price until the house was sold - which the tenants refused. Had the tenants accepted then they would still be there and this would not be a story. The tenants were the ones who complained - blaming others for their mistakes.

Equally, she could have sold it rather than relet it, or relet it at the same rate to new tenants.

It didn't sell. The price was typical for the area. Better to have it housing people than remain empty - and the new rent was also typical for the area (costs have increased).

Do you admire tapeworms and stylops, or only landlords?

Just thought I'd add here that as far as I can tell, she did nothing that the Renters Bill would make illegal, and in fact did follow it despite it not being law yet. This is looking more like misogyny because she was a successful woman.

That's just not true. And it wasn't the RW media, it was the i that broke the story, followed up by the BBC then Guardian. You don't have to automatically jump to defend her you know. Last year, she had to step down after connections with Grenfell contractors... bsky.app/profile/bedf...

But it is true. The i is published by the Daily Mail and General Trust and you're telling me it isn't right wing (despite the claims of neutrality)?

Vicky Spratt - who broke the story - is a long time housing and renters' rights campaigner, and has written books on the subject. Don't blame the messenger.

Who writes for right-wing papers such as the Spectator and Telegraph. Could she be using her renown to undermine a Labour government so as to get a Tory one back in? Nothing is what it seems on the surface.
