Sort of fascinated by Stella Creasy's parliamentary career. She's been an MP since 2010, was briefly in the shadow cabinet under Miliband and that's it. She's senior. She's down with the political direction of the government. It's weird that she's not in a cabinet role?

I think the latter mainly. Bit of a lone wolf and not really in with the factions that she even appears to agree with.
yeah i think she is a loose canon in some respects. also think she has always been big on defining herself as a campaigning mp which is hard to reconcile with collective responsibility. and also she has been quite vocal on gambling reform which is a donor no no
I'd suggest there's a certain arrogance there as well. Her family essentially owns the local CLP and she runs Walthamstow like her own personal fiefdom. Until last year, the last time the second place parliamentary candidate received more than 15% of the vote was 2010

while we're on creasy facts, i was reading the liner notes to a Wedding Present CD and saw that she'd written them, which felt very random
One day Stella will push bourgeois feminism sufficiently that having female MPs and cabinet members will be viewed as normal. Maybe even a female PM. What a battler she is!

It's a bit like Meg Hillier - MP has a rock hard safe seat since forever and I would challenge anyone to remember anything political she's ever done. Seems to just be a case of sitting in the seat, drawing the salary and eventually getting a gong.

I think there’s an extent to which she skews a bit more socially liberal than the current government, possibly.
She's always struck me as "of the club but not *in* the club"

And she has a pre-school child, which might explain a desire to stick with local constituency stuff until they're a bit older.
Hillier has made chairing select committees her thing, and that's been quite well respected I think. Creasy on the other hand is a problematic personality and seen as a liability.
