Brings back great memories. Red Hat guy built every playground I used as a kid. I miss those burning slides, see saws that nearly took off my head etc. If you survived that playground and the bullies that roamed it, you had some real resiliency!

Not to mention all the "pinch points" for any moving apparatus on the playground.

Back in the day our park had a witches hat. It was probably the most dangerous piece of playground equipment known to man or child. If you got to the top the cone was carefully designed to crush tiny hands and fingers.

Come on. No one really needs ten fingers, do they?

Growing up in the 2000s meant that I had both of these at once. You fall off of a big metal thing with a single railing, but then you'd land on bouncy rubber ground so you wouldn't get injured.

Played with everyone of those as a kid and indeed the winner did go to the hospital. My mum still hasn't forgiven me for not looking after my little brother

Can I just say that I recognize the green flannel guys playground? I played on those playgrounds. No they weren't safe but those steep sliding boards were a hell of a lot of fun.

A pit is already a park...

There is a local park near me that literally has a hole on the ground... I literally had to use a public garbage can to cover the hole so the kids can't break their ankles

This makes me laugh. Back on one summer afternoon the 1960s, I walked 6 blocks to the school playground by myself & swung from one swinging metal hoop to another. I fell to the asphalt, became unconscious, and finally woke at dusk to see my mother who wanted to know why I wasn't at the dinner table.

I grew up in a very industrial area, there were trains a block away, mom always warned us not to jump the trains, "you will get your legs cut off" she said. We rode the trains to the park about six blocks away.

That really hot steep slide sticks to your ass in the summer, mom rode down with me as she was pregnant for my brother, it broke, the whole thing came down. I still think this is why my brother isn't right.

I will scroll to find out who wins but I'm about to share this shit, it is hilarious and yes I'm from the red hat era, I wonder if flying off a swing is why my back still hurts.
