An interesting insight. 🙃 (Also, as someone who was born in Russia - yup, Finland is 100% justified in their views.)

I have a Norwegian immigrant friends and an ex and they all have stories about ‘those’ relatives who they either cut off or had to tolerate for their kids who had picked the wrong side during the occupation in WW2. Would leave a scar I suspect.
We once did a tour around the Baltic states and all were very open about their hatred for the Russians. Not the ones who were their neighbors, who stayed after the occupying forces withdrew, but the ocupiers. The oppressors.
Along with rural, there also seems to be a push in Finland against stern churches, which I also see in a few Norwegian and Swedish mysteries. I'm thinking of Vivaca Sten's HIDDEN IN THE SHADOWS (Swedish) most recently, but perhaps not unique to Scandinavia.
