When I was stationed in Germany, to my understanding, the only civilians allowed to have guns were hunters. Even in the city, you could confidently leave your car unlocked. Gratuity and tax included in prices. And *every* vendor/restaurant had beer, like the America that Americans want. It was nice.
It's also the case that Germany has greater protections for workers and just generally things are *better*. There are active attempts to erode that. And the recent extreme right wing win there is a bad omen. The reality is it's less about guns and more about people being taken care of.
Like our school shooter problem is an ideology problem. These kids are being groomed as MAGA, and MAGA commits A LOT of stochastic terror, especially aimed at schools.
Civilians are allowed guns but the hurdles for a license and even for storage of guns are way higher.
