It certainly doesn’t help that none of the corporate media will report anything of note after being threatened by Trump. Some “free press” we have in the U.S. now. The only ones who are actually reporting what is going on are independent sources and offshore sources.

Can Trump withhold funding? Can he affect any channel? Any news channel here that broke the law when reporting wd be fined, but it wd have to go to court, or the regulatory body for a decision. The Prime Minister cannot do it. He can complain, that is all.

CBS, a major US news and media corporation, was just merged with Paramount, a major US film and media corporation. They needed presidential approval because the deal violated many trust-related laws.

Trump sues CBS for bullshit reason. CBS settles and now Trump is $16M richer. CBS fires Colbert whom Trump despises. Trump approves merger. Trump also defunded the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which doesn't fully kill off public tv and radio, but makes them harder to accomplish.

I don’t think most of the public believed it could happen here. It is hideously shocking to see that we can be turned into a dictatorship and that it may well be happening in front of our eyes. Check out Project 2025 for the playbook. It’s working all too well.

We used to have checks and balances in the form of congressional senators and representatives that cared to honor the Constitution and the laws that were built around it. It is truly shocking to see how half of them - more in some cases - have given up their power to the mad king.

CNS settled because it wanted the deal with Paramount to go through. The show that the lawsuit was filed over was a 60 Minutes segment concerning accusations of editing an interview with Kamala Harris to make Trump “look bad.” Don Hewitt, the show’s producer for decades, quit over this incident.

The show has relied on the precepts of independent journalism since its inception and its work has been considered to be high quality and objective. Hewitt quit because he would not submit to compromising the quality of the reporting due to financial or political pressure.

Our government is being similarly decimated from both inside and out. We have lost about 300,000 government employees since January, including scores of deep experts that conflict with Trump’s agenda. Most recently the CDC has been decimated.

You cannot run a country without experienced staff. The WH is the prime example. Chaotic, bumbling, panicking, cruel, incompetent.
