I don't understand the people who think general strikes just happen. The amount of organization and preparation that goes into a successful general strike vastly exceeds that of a social media campaign.

And the larger the country, the harder it is! If the US had one major city, you'd have one place to organize. One piece of major infrastructure to disrupt. One area where people are to directly see and interact with the protest/strike, etc etc.
Iām still convinced it will have to happen given your trajectory.
I would be impressed if people could give up Facebook and Instagram for a day.
A lot of folks are *convinced* there's some magic wand that makes what they want to happen materialize. Hell, the current president of the United States believes that and has demonstrably been proven wrong repeatedly.
Nah. You just need three or four categories of workers for a general strike: truckers and railway workers, transit workers, sanitation workers and that's basically it. The problem is that these categories in general vote conservative.
There is an entire book about the seattle general strike and that didn't even succeed and likely had backlash
pulling off a regular strike is a herculean effort on its own, a fact people who live in phone world and call for general strikes seem to be unaware of
