Literally no one of any consequence has said all guns should be banned. The smallest effort to save lives has been to restrict who can purchase guns, where they can be purchased, requirements to complete a purchase, types of guns that can be purchased. This does not infringe on 2a.

We are closer to alignment. 2A is not the problem. The tool is not the problem, it’s the user. There are already restrictions on buying and owning guns as well as where and when they can be used. That is where legislation AND enforcement should be focused, not on the lawful citizens.

That is not true. Many states have tried to restrict gun purchases to 21 or at least assault rifle styles. NY tried to limit where guns can be carried. Those laws have been struck down by scotus on basis of 2a. DC AG is not enforcing open carry bans… let me know what legislation and enforcement

In my state, you must be 18 for rifle and 21 for pistol purchases. It also defines where you may carry, open or concealed. The law also defines who can possess arms. No Scotus repeals. Must be the way it was written. Here the aim is to restrict those who flaunt the law and not the abuser.

Right. But that’s YOUR state. Those laws don’t prevent someone from going to the neighboring state at 18 to legally buy a pistol and then use it to murder someone(s) in your state. The only way to restrict/reduce mass gun violence is to do it nationally through Congress. But NRA and republicans.

So the laws in my state should be passed to keep the citizens of your state from breaking the law in your state? I don't think that's how states rights work. why not pass a law that keeps your citizens out of my state. problem solved if you can make it pass constitutional muster

So put dog collars on everyone in states to prevent them from crossing borders? Or do we need check points to check proof of residence at each state? Orrr work with me here, if your state has safe laws to prevent mass murder maybe all states should adopt it. But scotus and republicans.

That's sarcasm. What's legal in my state may not be legal in yours but its not up to my state to police the actions of your citizens. States do follow successes in other states but not all solutions to an issue are the same, hence the difference in law. There's more than one way to skin a cat

That’s not the point. The point is the laws should have a floor and the floor might be your states laws but it certainly shouldn’t be TX laws. But nra and republicans.

The floor is U.S. Federal law. State law can be stricter as long as it doesn't run afoul of a citizens protected rights. Learned that in high school civics class. Do they still teach that?
