"or arrest them..." Did that happen? Yes. "that will lawlessly kill..." Did this happen? I mean, Trump didn't pull the trigger himself. Did his constant and extreme rhetoric and literal calls to violence against the opposition influence the shooter to do what he did? You're goddamned right.
Unless your argument is that Trump didn't actually weild the weapon himself, I'm not seeing where I was wrong. And ONE incident is both enough, and a precedent to continue doing these things.
My argument is that Trump's adminsitration isn't actually being as authoritarian as some people are making it out to be. Is it being authoritarian? Yeah. But we're not at Russia, or Turkey, or even a number of other countries points yet. And that makes a difference.
I've had too many instances of people tuning out when I end up suggesting what's going on is akin to some of the more evil regimes past and present, because they make a quick comparison in their head and go "You're exaggerating" and therefore conclude I'm crazy.
