I don’t want perfect. But if you think that you can revive him and he will sort out his diet when he’s come around you are deceiving yourself. If Newsom won’t be decent now he won’t be good enough later.

Nobody is stopping anyone else from coming in and doing more than Newsom is right at the moment. If you want to just sit back and wait for the better person to come along, you're welcome to the Trump dictatorship. BTW, the patient on its deathbed is not Newsom, it's American democracy.
