No it's because America allowed greedy grifters to take over because they spoke racism from a podium and they loved it. We need to recognize that a large portion of Americans would rather the country burn than have equal rights. And some of those people are brown.

Wilhoit's Law: "Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect." That can be expanded to out-groups whom they don't wish to have benefits offered to themselves.

Wilhoit's Law is an accurate conclusion, but it's not immediate clear to conservatives how it could possibly be. You and I see the law as a way to enforce conduct uniformly: anyone who commits a given offense should be subject to the same penalty (with some variance for specific circumstances). 1/x

But conservatives see the law as a way to punish bad people. And who are bad people? Well, not conservatives; conservatives are good people. No, the bad people are those people over there. So whenever the law is applied to conservatives, they see it as a miscarriage of justice. 2/x

So yes, Wilhoit's Law correctly describes the system that conservatives want, but they are not trying to create an unfair system. It just so happens that their concept of "fair" is rooted in short-sighted and frankly idiotic principles that guarantee injustice. 3/3

But it serves them personally so good luck ever getting them to see the problem.

Then I would argue that Gavin is a conservative.

He's a milquetoast D part of the corrupt circle jerk between corporate-owned media that takes ad money from corporate owner-donors who bribe elected officials in both parties while gaslighting people to believe everything's red v blue instead of the truth - elitist predatory class v everyone else.

Obviously, you have reading comprehension issues, so you can fuck off. Maybe one day you'll actually come to the left, but only if you take your tongue off his boots first. He, and other milquetoast Ds don't give a fuck about you since he works for the elitist predatory class. You do you, though...

And you’ll vote for him in 2028 if he wins the Democrat presidential primary. 🙂

What the fuck?! My state has been red for the president since the 1960s due to the Electoral College, and I have only voted for one milquetoast D since I realized they were bought just like Rs. I'm free to vote according to my conscience, not the lesser of two evils bullshit that won't be counted.

Time machine, go back and assassinate all the depression era revival preachers, starting with the Grahams. Sorted!

Um... No. But I do think that prosecution of Confederate supporters after the war would have done much to quell the white supremacy that has plagued our nation. We have consistently allowed crimes committed by them to go unpunished for convenience or profit and it has corrupted our country greatly.

I certainly do not. I would say that the true believers can be just as dangerous. The proof is in the action. Who do they support? Why? What do they use their platform for? To uplift or to suppress? Graham was a true believer but also a bigot and willing to side with horrible people.
