I would answer that question as "female" ( unless perhaps it was directly medically relevant). They'll never change it if we cooperate with transphobic framings. Only if they realise we won't play along.

Same, my instinct here is just to lie. Which I do regularly, anytime I run into a binary form here in the US. (If the form is paper, I draw my own nonbinary box and check that!) But if it has to match you with existing records, you can't even do that.

My medical record says I'm female. A mismatch is far more likely if I say I'm male. It's another ludicrous aspect of this system.

An an enby my records are all over the place. So I feel your pain. I’m actually afraid to try to change my gender marker on my social security card, bc I don’t remember what I put down when I changed my name a few years ago.
