They always call America and its democracy the great experiment. After 250 are we ready to decide whether or not the experiment failed?

Let me formulate this in another way: the US electoral system is 250 years old. Can it now be improved, taking in account all the lessons in US, and electoral systems worldwide? Failures can be useful if they serve as lessons.
