Flag football is a whole different skill set. Also NHL players are allowed in Olympic play, they're just spread out over maybe 4-5 countries rather than one or two.

I really think putting NFL players into a fundamentally different code of football, that asks for different skill sets, could backfire. Ask any MMA fighter who decided to try boxing and ended up looking at the lights at the hands of Jake Paul.

I mean yeah but he's the easiest example. MMA and boxing, skiing and snowboarding, cricket and baseball, tennis and pickleball, a hop to a nearby sport always comes with a change in the things valued and asked of you and it's so, so easy to underestimate the translation.

Even basketball to 3x3 can come fraught with challenges. When elite play is measured and differentiated at the margins, changing what those margins are can be all it takes. You don't see many esports pros get to the top in multiple games.

I agree. IMO, the dream team was the beginning of the end. I understand that pro athletes take pride in representing their country, but at the same time, they prevent amateurs from doing something that's always been about them.

I can see that. It would be different if every country didn’t use pros but they all do. I always saw the Olympics as the 1% vs the 1% To me it’s a country pride thing. I’d rather give us the best advantage to win a sport we created on our home soil for the first time with the best of the best

I see your point but disagree in that football is a more contact sport. As for it being flag football, I recall separating my shoulder in a “touch” football game . Stuff happens and my boss wasn’t happy. I imagine owners being the same if a key player was hurt

Oh I def agree. It’s a risk and Flag is a different sport. But guys like JJ and Chase will have no problem playing. QBs and Dbs is a different story tho Besides there are a healthy amount of foreigners that play in the NFL If Canadians beat us in the first “football” game on our soil 😭
