teams do this when they don’t want to spend money on players but want it to look like they’re doing something constructive to win, and it never results in a miraculous turnaround for the team, they’ll hire some other guys and get exactly the same results

When I say “better” I don’t mean better than the Phillies, Mets or Braves but a dark horse to steal a playoff spot if one of them slipped up. Which the Braves have been doing but the Nats can’t even stay above the lowly tanking Marlins.

Until the Lerners start spending money on players again, which they haven’t done in years, then this is all for show. Count as one who is very skeptical about this.

Mark Lerner should fire himself. Rizzo has been handcuffed for years because ownership will not open their wallets. It was Davey’s time to go, but Rizzo got hosed.
