What is going on with the sculptors of the world? Is it a dying art? Every time a statue of a sports star is unveiled these days, it’s a ghastly flop. The proportions are weird here — we all see it. Why couldn’t the sculptor? Didn’t the Patriots peek at this before unveiling it? Bizarre.

I was just saying the same. I worked in a statuary foundry for decades and did a decent amount of sculpture myself and we cast and repaired dozens of statues in New England and they were generally amazing and perfectly proportional. I have no idea why nobody can make a statue anymore.

To be clear sculpture obviously is a whole spectrum of artistry, but this is just supposed to look like Brady and have human proportions. I personally know the art foundry business has tanked into nothingness now but with all that money they couldn’t find anyone good?

Right? It's a $6+ billion company making a statue of its most beloved employee. Presumably they can afford the best. Where does it all go wrong? And how does it get through production with nobody saying a word? Nobody's asking for Michelangelo, just basic common sense.
