Micah Parsons announced he will wear No. 1 with the Packers, a number that hasn't been worn in Green Bay since 1926.

Curly Lambeau is probably the only greater Packer than Vince Lombardi.....his number isnt retired???

It should be retired for Lambeau and Vince Lombardi together, the only two men to wear it.

Oh good, I thought the Packers were going to be good but now they're cursed and will go 9-7 at best. 👍

Terrible fucking idea. Number one has only been worn In a game by two men: Curly Lambeau and Vince Lombardi. The #Packers have traditionally been mediocre stewards of their own history, but agreeing to this is bad even by those standards.

As a dedicated Cowboys hater, I’m pumped for him to be out of that shithole organization. Gonna make the Packers more of a challenge, but my Birds got it

Further evidence that Micah Parsons is a jackass, which is one of the reasons why he's no longer in Dallas.

It was genuinely weird to have an "unofficial retired number." I'm not sure Curly would have approved.

True. What's also true is that it was worn by Curly and no one else has worn it in almost 100 years

No Packers player has worn No. 1 since Curly Lambeau in 1925 and 1926. The longtime namesake of Green Bay’s iconic stadium was the only one in franchise history to don the number. Micah Parsons will be the second. More from Parsons' introduction ⤵️ www.nytimes.com/athletic/658...

Not player, but the last person to wear it was Vince Lombardi. Love the pickup, but he’s not in their class.

What class are you talking about, specifically? As a player, Parsons is absolutely in their class.

The class of contributions to the team. They are singular figures in sports, period. Not to mention titans in the Packers’ history.

Thanks for the clarification. Lombardi has the SB trophy named after him. Lambeau has the stadium named after him. If the number 1 was so sacred in Packers history, why hasn’t it been officially retired? I mean, Tony Canadeo’s 3 has been officially retired. 🤷‍♂️

Honestly the Packers have been terrible stewards of their own history. They still don’t have an accurate timeline of the uniforms they’ve worn. We keep learning new things they didn’t know. They should make number 1 officially retired now.

It’s too late to retire it now, but I agree that 1 should be officially retired.

It’s Micah Parsons, a star player, choosing to wear the No. 1 jersey with the Green Bay Packers, a number unused by the team since 1926, marking a rare and historic choice for his new chapter.
