Yeah I see where that user is coming from I guess, since the article sort of builds her (Bi) up at first. But, the whole point of that is to later tear apart her claims, despite her relatable wishes to start her family. Any empathy she may have had is in the end, undeserved. It's good writing

IDK that I even agree the article sort of builds Bi up at first... It *starts* with her breaking her confidentiality agreement & mentions the strongest part of the case against her ("Smith" nearly died). Then follows a section on surrogacy that makes it clear the power differential is on Bi's side.

Moreover while the article does frame Bi "sympathetically" in a pure formal sense it unfailingly frames Smith and the other surrogate just as sympathetically - and without the constant barrage of contradictory facts that make that sympathy come across as sarcastic with Bi.
