The only reason I hold on to FB is for Messenger, sometimes that's the only way someone can reach me by phone. FB itself doesn't work on my PC for some reason, although it does on my phone but then its just one ad after another or reels, so effing boring.

Overall, while the marketing message emphasizes convenience and user experience, the underlying motivations are closely tied to data, engagement, and revenue generation. I don’t use the FB app on my phone, except for messenger. 9/9

Also the FB phone app is huge at many hundreds of MB. What's all that code for?

Notice that FB messages is only available through the app. To me, that's enough to ensure I'll never have it on my phone.
