From 2020: “From May 27 to July 7, I cataloged 72 incidents of cars driving into protesters across 52 cities, including both civilian & law enforcement vehicles.” Why increasing use? Ari Weil suggests norms shaped partly by far-right memes & sites like Daily Caller. www.nbcnews.com/think/opinio...

I knew this MAGA person on social media who was somewhat normal and well-adjusted. We debated politics occasionally. In 2020 during the pandemic and the protests he started posting memes like this one. I was very disturbed to see him condoning this, but it is what the MAGA movement has normalized.

In Dying to Kill, @miambloom.bsky.social showed how ”specific tactics learned in one location have a contagion effect to other conflicts and to other regions. Hamas proved utility of vehicle ramming, ISIS adopted it” and it’s now spread to right-wing extremists in US.

Nothing about all the new laws in the past few years that have been passed making plowing into protesters with a vehicle legal?

It's not my research area but that of Ari Weill. I haven't seen anything from him more recently.
