I'm not sure what the % of Australian homes with heatpumps is but it would be pretty high. This is one Conspiracy that will never fly here when talking about space heating or cooling. Water heating is another story due to some poor products and plumber bias.
Personally I've only ever witnessed the plumber stories and bias. All heat pumps we've had are solid. Not super expensive either.
SA Gov and maybe Vic were virtually giving away a brand of water heater whose name eludes me at this time, which had a lot of issues. If I were in the market I would look at Reclaim which by all accounts is very good but pricey.

Oh yeah, found some articles on the VIC cases. I'm not surprised there were some initial hicups in some schemes and I suspect we we see some issues with battery subsidies too. However, it seems like the regulator jumped on it once it was discovered. www.esc.vic.gov.au/media-centre...
