They have some random idea of what the story is, because they don't read. Happens a lot, unfortunately.
Bet they'd also throw a fit over a Dracula adaptation where Mina is the only one with a brain cell along with Dr. Van Helsing, like it is in the book.
Oh, for sure. I've no problem with out-there adaptations, but a media critic should know something about source material and the history of the story, at the very least.
