I think they genuinely prefer the taste of untreated water. Try collecting some rainwater and see if she prefers that? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Our cats would only drink from the old watering can outside, a few winters ago we brought it into the kitchen so the water wouldn’t freeze, needless to say it’s been there ever since…

Thank you fullerem. I try to tell the truth as does Sophie. Her parents discourage her from suspect water but she likes puddles but won’t drink from rivers. Wow Thames Water, shame on you.

We get tap water here which is from the same headwaters as those that supply Evian (yes, them). My dog, pictured here as a pup, would much rather drink from a puddle or muddy stream.

Cai will drink from our pond of eau de tadpole avec rotting frog in preference to his bowl of tap water inside. So he has a bowl of tap water outside too, which he will drink. Maybe the ambience?

A few possibilities: An attempt at public embarrassment of you (“see what my humans make me drink?”) It was handy. It had color so exploring that. Just pure curiosity. “Hmmm how does this taste?” My guess that last thing.
