Yeah — I can easily imagine there being 8-12 tonnes of water up there if the drains are all blocked with leaves. I assume they normally unblock them in Autumn before winter rain.

Looks like a design flaw. Rain was heavy, but not at Red Warning levels. Quite possibly a problem developing slowly, with a gradual buildup of rainwater to a critical point where the roof could no longer take the strain. Just a guess, tbh. m.independent.ie/irish-news/e...
